As an interior designer, my inner decorator needs constant inspiration. Every so often, to feed the artist in me, I find it necessary to visit gorgeous gardens, heavenly historic sites, or one of Mother Nature’s many wonders. Recently, my son Grady and I visited Newport, RI, where we toured several of the amazing historic mansions which are open to the public. I’ll post more on the mansions later, but today I wanted to share some fabulous photos I took of the amazing harbor views and stunningly beautiful boats we saw while visiting this historic city.
Enjoy!

This is the historic home called Clingstone, which is known to locals as ‘The House on a Rock’.

This boat is newly built and is called the Oliver Hazard Perry. It serves as a school for boatbuilding.

The Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest privately owned tall ship and largest civilian sail training vessel in the United States.

Oh, what glorious inspiration I derived from our visit to Newport, RI! The photos from our trip will feed my creative process for a long time to come. Perhaps there’s a nautically inspired room design in my future? We’ll have to wait and see…
