I just wanted to share with you that the 2017 Mansion in May is officially open to the public, and it is definitely worth a visit!
Here’s Grady last week at the entrance to the 2017 Mansion in May. We were invited to a special press preview day, so I could take photos and enjoy the mansion ahead of time! It was fantastic and I can’t wait to show you all the rooms!
This fabulous (and I DO mean fabulous) designer showhouse is open to the public for tours from May 1st, 2017 through May 31, 2017.
I don’t want to give everything away while the house is open to the public, but here are just a few of my favorite moments from this year’s Mansion in May.
The enormous blue and gold ballroom, by CWI. Design, is swanky enough for the Great Gatsby himself!
This cozy gentleman’s retreat on the second floor was designed by Elizabeth Guest Interiors. It’s truly a wonderful space!. I loved the multiple exotic wallpaper patterns, the skirted console table, and of course those awesome green lambrequins on the windows!
There were gorgeous window treatments in many of the rooms. I especially loved these board mounted panels with no visible hardware, combined with this striped roman shade. They were designed by Sagri Frieber of Accents by Design. So pretty!
And here’s just a tiny corner of Grady’s favorite space on the second floor: The Left Bank Loft which is a collaboration by Curren Associates and Plumberry Designs. These two gentlemen fit an entire apartment into their design area! It includes a kitchenette, dining area, living area, bedroom and the pictured home office corner. It’s just jaw dropping! And there are so many clever design elements in this space, including the three panel window treatment shown here. Mounted on two separate plumbing pipes, the sheer hangs in the forefront, at the center of the opening between the navy blue side panels. It’s a great contrast with the exposed brick wall to the right. Just beautiful!
So here’s the low-down on the 2017 Mansion in May:
Ticket prices vary: $40 Advance Sale; $50 at the door; $100 for a private and guided tour ticket which includes a $20 lunch voucher for the Canfield Café.
Parking is off-site at 170 Park Avenue in Florham Park from which ticket holders will be shuttled to and from the Abbey without charge. It’s a bit of a drive though, so allow plenty of time!
Touring the mansion takes about 90 minutes and much longer for design lovers like myself. I didn’t want to miss a thing and I definitely wanted to take my time savoring every inch! Plus, don’t forget to include your shuttle transportation to and from the offsite parking on your agenda. Children under 12 and infants are not permitted. The mansion is not handicapped accessible.
You’ll be glad to know there’s also a very large tent on-site, which has a cafe and seating inside, so you can have a rest and grab a bite to eat when you’re there!
Don’t forget that in addition to the more than 40 interior spaces on three levels at Alnwick, there are also some amazing gardens on display at the 2017 Mansion in May. For example this colorful parterre garden by M. ERBS Fine Gardens. This is the perfect time of year to stroll the grounds and visit the gorgeous art, sculptures and flowers outside of the mansion!
