In today’s post, I’d like to discuss the selection of my paint color scheme in the 2016 Bucks County Designer House bedroom I’m designing. I know in previous posts, I’ve shared that fabric is usually my first color selection tool. Once I’ve chosen fabrics, I can pull the paint colors directly from the color palette in the textiles.
In my last post, I shared about one of my sponsors: Stout Textiles. Stout Textiles has been extremely generous in partnering with me on the fabrics for my space, selected from their upcoming line of luxurious designer fabrics! Now that I’ve chosen those beautiful fabrics, my color scheme is pretty much locked-in to the seafoam/teal and coral/pink color scheme. I just LOVE how the colors of the room are classic and elegant. This Bucks County Designer House bedroom will be soothing, but with a pop of youthful vibrancy. If you missed my post about the fabrics, you can read about it here: http://wp.me/pEVbo-R0
So now I can begin picking out the wall, ceiling, and trim paint colors. Benjamin Moore is generously supplying ALL the paint supplies for the entire 2016 Bucks County Designer House! What a huge, act of generosity. I’m sure you’re probably familiar with this popular upscale paint supplier, but you can find out more by heading over to their website here: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/
Benjamin Moore is wonderful about providing professional color selection supplies for designers. These exclusive designer tools have larger paint swatches s and additional large samples can be ordered and sent to directly to my clients. All this can be done very easily by designers online.
So I’ve been perusing the many colors available from Benjamin Moore and have come up with several I like, as seen in the image below.

Here are several paint colors represented in the fabrics I chose for my designer house bedroom. This is a first stab at matching colors from the fabrics, which I’ll use in the walls and trim in my room.
I’ll often pick out extra color sample chips, like the coral pictured here, to keep in my folder for shopping purposes too. This way, I can take the entire color scheme (not limited to only the color for the walls) with me when I’m out shopping. It’s much easier to carry some paper paint chips around, rather than lots of fabric swatches, etc.
Of course, now I must decide exactly where to put those colors, which finishes, and how to address certain ‘issues’ within the space, like the low ceilings and variety of doors and trim. You probably remember the wall across from the entry, with its jumble of doors and funky L-shaped nook.

Here’s the BEFORE view upon entering my bedroom at the Bucks County Designer House.
As you can see, the room is in quite a state!
The wall opposite the entrance has an attic door (on the left), a cedar closet under the stair, then a small nook of wall space and another shallow closet on the right.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to improve the focal points in this space and what visitors will experience when they enter my space. I want to make a great first impression when guests visit my 2016 Bucks County Designer House bedroom! So next time we’ll talk more about where I’ll put the various colors, and how that will affect my design.
Until then, feel free to share my posts and images with your friends on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and other social media. I absolutely adore making new friends!
Hi Kristine, it’s fun to see the process on the designer house room. It’s a lot of work, but I know it will look great when everything is done!
Best Wishes, Sheila
